Van Viet Truong has died days after allegedly being attacked while helping a retail worker confront youths accused of stealing clothes. Police allege the incident happened outside a shopping strip in Sunshine, in Melbourne’s west, on Saturday. Truong was critically injured in the assault. Flags flown by Sunshine Council have been lowered to half-mast in his honour.
