TechNews Corp Australia subscriptions slip as CEO attacks ‘slimy’ AI slop
News Corp says digital subscriptions across its Australian mastheads edged lower during the financial year. The company’s internal figures show a decline from 1,166,000 to 1,162,000 subscribers across outlets including the Australian, the Daily Telegraph and the Herald Sun. The fall erased recent gains, although the Rupert Murdoch-backed conglomerate reported otherwise robust financial results. Chief executive Robert Thomson sharply condemned AI companies producing what he called “slimy” and “crass kleptomaniac” content, saying they were in possession of stolen goods.
