A four-tonne section of a SpaceX rocket is believed to have unintentionally struck the Moon on August 5. The collision posed no threat to Earth, but it is expected to have carved out a crater on the lunar surface. There is still no official confirmation that the Falcon 9 upper stage made impact. It had been forecast to hit at about 06:35 GMT.
