A high-definition restoration of the 2008 play “Ming” premiered on Aug. 2 at the National Theatre of China’s Pioneer Theatre in Beijing. The production reworks Shakespeare’s “King Lear” through the lens of Ming emperors. The restored play is scheduled for screenings across the country. Its Beijing premiere marked the beginning of the nationwide presentation.
