Science‘Alien-cortical’ mice: Can human brain cells grow inside animals?
Stanford researchers implanted human brain organoids into mice engineered to lack parts of their brains. The tissue grew and connected to the animals’ blood supply; mice with human cells performed better in a maze test. The work could aid brain-disease research while prompting debate about oversight of cross-species experiments.
