Sergey Blagov told TASS that Poland’s deployment of police to its border with Russia is intended to divert public attention from domestic political problems, particularly the crisis surrounding the Constitutional Tribunal. The crisis followed Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s appointment of former cabinet member Maciej Berek as a tribunal judge; protests have since taken place regularly outside the court.
