Peruvian authorities seized more than 3,000 tarantulas hidden in dirty socks inside three suitcases at Lima’s Jorge Chávez airport. Bound for Germany and potentially worth €1.5m, the spiders were carried by two Germans and a Polish citizen, who were detained and will face criminal proceedings.
