The Independent, citing sources, reported that Secretary of State Marco Rubio may leave his post to prepare for a 2028 presidential bid. The paper said he could distance himself from the Trump administration after the Republicans’ midterm defeat and challenge JD Vance for the party’s nomination. The White House and State Department denied the claims.
