KLM will eliminate about 5,000 jobs, nearly 15% of its workforce, to reduce expenses. It aims to avoid compulsory redundancies through voluntary departures, reassignment and natural attrition, while outsourcing some ground and baggage handling and replacing Airbus A320s with smaller Embraer E195-E2 jets.
