TechDiscord is ditching Electron for a less memory-hungry app

Discord plans to move its desktop app entirely to Rust, dropping Electron and React Native. Mobile will keep its native UI while sharing app code with desktop through Rust. CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy showed a Windows client using 290MB of RAM; the company hopes to begin user testing soon but has not set a date for the full transition.
