China’s state planner has told Japanese investor SoftBank that it will not approve the $5.4 billion purchase of engineering group ABB’s robotics business, ABB said Thursday. It is China’s second major deal blocked this year, following an order for Meta Platforms to undo its acquisition of AI start-up Manus, valued at more than $2 billion.
