WorldWorld’s largest humanitarian crisis: 35 million Sudanese need aid

Sudan’s humanitarian crisis has become one of the defining yet least visible crises of the twenty-first century. Dirk Segaar, the IFRC Special Envoy for Sudan, says it can no longer be viewed only through changing frontlines or military developments. The war has hollowed out public services, displaced whole communities and accelerated disease. Humanitarian needs now reach far beyond active battlefields, pointing to a cumulative breakdown of Sudan’s social, economic and institutional fabric.
