SocietyRefuse collectors help Italian woman recover binned €1m lottery ticket

An Italian woman who realised she had thrown away the stub proving her jackpot win made an urgent appeal to refuse collectors. Workers searched through heaps of rubbish on their truck and recovered the instant-win ticket, worth €1m. The waste management company said it was “miraculously still in one piece” after the search. The recovery took place in Italy’s southern Puglia region, where SANB administrator Roberto Nicola Toscano described the workers’ effort.
