Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council head Chiu Chui-cheng says cross-Strait relations are currently highly risky. He says China’s pressure on Taiwan now extends across military, economic, legal and cognitive domains. The Democratic Progressive Party has remained in power for ten consecutive years since taking office in 2016. Yet Chiu says communication channels have not been completely severed. Taiwan continues interaction and risk management through official contacts, existing agreements and civil exchanges.
