SocietyLibya’s top religious authority rules against wearing Nike clothing

Libya’s Dar al-Ifta issued a fatwa forbidding Muslims from buying, selling or wearing clothes bearing Nike’s logo. It said the brand was named after the Greek goddess of victory and argued that displaying the logo promoted polytheistic symbols. The committee also accused Nike of supporting Israel and urged a boycott. Approved by Grand Mufti Sadiq al-Gharyani, the ruling is not a state ban and sets no penalties.
