EconomyIEA forecasts 1.5% fall in global gas demand in 2026
The International Energy Agency forecasts global natural gas demand will fall by nearly 65 billion cubic meters, or about 1.5%, to 4.22 trillion cubic meters in 2026, compared with 4.29 trillion in 2025, due to the Middle East conflict. Demand is projected to fall in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, while rising in North America, Eurasia, Africa, and Central and South America.
