HealthPublic urged to avoid Sydney hospitals unless life may be in danger after record emergency day
Winter flu is placing heavy pressure on New South Wales’ health system. People in Sydney have been advised not to attend emergency departments unless their lives may be at risk, after a record winter day for presentations. Health minister Ryan Park said just under 10,000 people went to Sydney emergency departments on Monday. That was about 1,000 above the average and the largest winter total ever recorded. Medical staff are preparing for what they call the worst three weeks of the year.
