SocietyGerman politicians call for protection of cancer survivors from future discrimination

Campaigners say people who have had cancer can face discrimination when seeking bank loans, adopting children or obtaining insurance. German politicians who have survived the disease are leading proposals to protect people who have been in remission for a long time. Known as the “right to be forgotten”, the policy is a central demand of a community estimated at 5.5 million former cancer patients in Germany who have been declared healthy by their doctors.
