OpenSecrets projects that spending on the 2026 US midterm campaign will total $11.9bn, about 30% more than in 2022. More than $9.5bn had been spent by mid-October, including about $5.5bn from PACs and Super PACs. Elon Musk was the biggest individual donor, giving nearly half a billion dollars to back Republicans.
