Russian mining company Areal and the government of Nigeria’s Niger State have agreed to build a gold refinery in Minna. The deal followed a meeting between Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and Areal CEO Vladislav Sviblov during the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow. The project is expected to create jobs, formalize gold mining and boost public revenues; its timeline, investment and capacity are undisclosed.
