SocietyAfter the Wainwright tragedy, this year’s Silver Cross Mother has a message for grieving families

Virginia Hicks is this year’s national Silver Cross Mother, an annual Royal Canadian Legion recognition of the mother of a fallen Canadian Armed Forces member on Remembrance Day. She visits CFB Petawawa in northern Ontario each year, where her daughter, Sapper Mariebeth Short, died in a training exercise in 2002.
