WorldFinnish president says he and Norway’s PM called Putin at Ukraine’s request
Finnish President Alexander Stubb said he and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin at Ukraine’s request to open a channel with Moscow. Stubb said other European countries knew what was discussed, rejected reports that Slavic history came up, and stressed Finland was not mediating and would keep supporting Ukraine. The October 27 call welcomed plans to resume Russia-Ukraine-US trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi in the first half of November.
