Engineering works over Christmas will disrupt some of Great Britain’s busiest rail lines for 10 days. London Paddington and Birmingham New Street will close for five days, while parts of the East Coast Main Line and other routes will face closures or replacement buses. Network Rail says most routes will remain open and about £152m of work will be carried out to improve reliability and capacity.
