TechChina’s Alibaba takes another swipe at America’s AI supremacy

Chinese technology giant Alibaba has unveiled what it describes as its largest and most capable artificial intelligence model so far. The company says Qwen3.8-Max performs on a level comparable with leading systems from US frontier laboratories Anthropic and OpenAI. Alibaba also claims the model can rival the domestic competitor Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3. The company said Qwen3.8-Max would be made widely available to users.
