WorldNauru officially changes its name to Naoero

Nauru has formally adopted the name Republic of Naoero, according to its president. The Pacific island nation says the change follows the spelling and pronunciation used in its national language and signals a move away from its colonial past. Its international code will shift from NRU to NRO. Citizens will be called dei-Naoero rather than Nauruan, while the new name is pronounced Now-ero instead of the commonly used Now-roo.
