WorldWeather tracker: Austria breaks heat records as Japan braces for Typhoon Dolphin

Extreme heat is continuing across parts of Europe, with Austria setting a new July record. Wieselburg reached 40.3C, just 0.2C below the region’s all-time high recorded in August 2003. Okinawa is meanwhile preparing for powerful winds and storm surges as Typhoon Dolphin approaches. Conditions have not been uniformly hot and dry across the northern hemisphere: Vancouver experienced its wettest July since 2016, although rainfall was only slightly above the long-term climate average.
