TechWaymo’s next robotaxi is a purpose-built Toyota bZ4X

Waymo plans to use Japan-assembled Toyota bZ4X electric vehicles for a robotaxi service it expects to launch in Tokyo in 2027. Toyota will fit Waymo’s sensors and computers on the assembly line at its Takaoka plant; the vehicles are also planned for the UK and other international markets.
