China’s Defense Ministry criticized the US-Japan Keen Sword 27 exercise, saying Japan’s efforts to stoke bloc confrontation find no support. Spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang accused Japan of holding drills with outside powers, expanding deployments on southwestern islands and accelerating remilitarization, calling it a threat to regional security. He said Taiwan is an internal Chinese matter and warned that attempts to contain China through Taiwan or stage military provocations would bring an unbearable price.
