Mikhail Kuznetsov, head of Vostokgosplan, said the corridor’s eastern section could create new cargo flows linking Russia’s European part with Asia-Pacific countries. Upgrading Pevek port in Chukotka and building transshipment terminals and related infrastructure would improve navigation reliability on the Northern Sea Route’s eastern approaches. He said new capacity must be matched with stable cargo flows.
