EconomyInterest on Ukraine loans to cost EU budget at least €35 billion
An EU Commission note says the bloc’s next seven-year budget must provide at least €35 billion to repay old loans to Ukraine. The interest could reach €41.9 billion if rates rise by one percentage point. EU leaders will discuss the next budget in Brussels on November 26-27 and commit to raising another €45 billion for Ukraine in 2027. Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia and Bulgaria oppose servicing borrowing costs for future loans.
