Venezuela’s authorized president, Delcy Rodriguez, demanded that the Bank of England return the country’s gold and directed the Foreign Ministry and Prosecutor General’s Office to begin recovery steps. The bank is holding about 31 metric tons of Venezuelan gold, estimated to be worth $4.8 billion.
