Australians bought electric and hybrid vehicles at almost the same rate as petrol cars from April to June, according to Australian Automobile Association data. Electric vehicle sales doubled in the months after the fuel price spike reached its peak. Petrol prices are again expected to pass A$2 a litre after federal fuel excise cuts ended on Sunday. The reductions had been introduced to offset the effects of the continuing crisis in the Middle East.
