Japan has more than 40 metric tons of plutonium, theoretically enough to produce several thousand nuclear warheads, China Arms Control and Disarmament Association Secretary General Dai Huaicheng told TASS. He cited a Japanese Atomic Energy Commission report saying separated plutonium totaled about 44.4 tons at the end of 2025.
