Ghanaian twins Jamal and Kamal Abubakari and Amanda Joy Opoku-Boachie of Hawaii pleaded guilty to taking part in an international criminal network. The group used fake identities to draw elderly people in the US and Europe into online romances, then persuaded them to send money to Ghanaian bank accounts. Victims lost $9m from July 2024 to April 2026; the three face up to 20 years in prison.
