WorldCeuta 2026 dwarfs 2021 migration crisis
Officials say that almost all of the tens of thousands of migrants who entered Spain’s enclave of Ceuta had departed by Saturday. An estimated 60,000 people crossed into the enclave from neighbouring Morocco within only a few days, and at least 67 died during the attempt. Spain plans to build a 500-metre containment barrier along the sea border. Meanwhile, most European Union countries have urged emergency discussions in an open letter to the bloc’s interior ministers.
