WorldAfrica: Fighting erupts in Ethiopia’s Tigray

Clashes are unfolding in a disputed part of northern Ethiopia’s Tigray region between the Tigray People’s Liberation Front and the Ethiopian federal army. The fighting is raising fears that war could return to the area. The 2020–2022 Tigray war left 600,000 people dead, while the region has still not recovered. Mediation efforts by the United States and African Union appear to have failed to prevent the situation from worsening.
