SportsBoxer wins Tuvalu’s first Commonwealth Games medal without winning a bout

Twenty-year-old Tarona Taafaki has made history for Tuvalu in the women’s 75kg boxing category. As one of five entrants, she received a bye into the semi-finals. Taafaki then lost unanimously on points to India’s Lovlina Borgohain on Friday. Commonwealth Games rules award bronze medals to every boxer eliminated in the semi-finals. The result means Taafaki secured Tuvalu’s first medal at the competition without winning a single fight.
