EconomyChina maintains global lead in shipbuilding industry

China accounted for 63.6% of global ship completions, 81.8% of new orders and 72.4% of orders on hand in the first nine months of 2026, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Chinese shipbuilders also held leading shares in orders for large crude carriers, container ships, car carriers and green vessels.
