The State Department said Donald Trump was “spot on” in his comments about France, after Emmanuel Macron criticized foreign leaders for “unacceptable and stupid” remarks and alleged foreign information manipulation around the protests. French officials said more than 3,000 shops were looted and about 2,500 people were detained in connection with last weekend’s demonstrations.
