WorldOil from tanker strike reaches UAE beaches
Oil from a tanker attacked near the Strait of Hormuz has spread along the UAE coast, prompting closures of beaches and coastal areas. Satellite imagery showed the slick extending more than 35km from the vessel and reaching beaches near Umm Al Quwain, as well as a recognised biodiversity area. Researchers say it is too early to determine the scale of environmental damage.
