CultureRare photographs document the Chinese Red Army’s Long March

A collection of photographs documenting the Long March from 1934 to 1936 has surfaced as China marks the campaign’s 90th anniversary. Preserved at Brigham Young University from journalist Helen Foster Snow’s archive, the images include the Red Army’s 25th Army crossing the Wei River and two people from an ethnic minority group encountered along the march.
