HealthUS-backed vaccine trial on babies canceled after international outcry
Guinea-Bissau officials formally rejected a clinical trial by Danish researchers, funded by the US, to investigate alleged nonspecific harms from newborn hepatitis B vaccination. Lead researcher Christine Stabell Benn said the Council of Ministers reaffirmed its rejection on October 16. Police had raided Bandim Health Project offices and seized vaccines; Benn said the search came after the trial was rejected.
