PoliticsEU awards top rights prize to ICC days after Trump sanctions

The International Criminal Court and officials working there have received the EU’s top human rights honor, the Sakharov Prize, an official said Thursday. The award followed by days the Trump administration’s sweeping sanctions on the court, imposed as part of a campaign to dismantle it over investigations involving the United States and its allies, including Israel. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said the prize recognizes the court’s work upholding international law and justice.
