China’s Ministry of Emergencies reported direct economic losses of 199.36 billion yuan ($29.6 billion) from natural disasters between January and September 2026. The disasters left 1,162 people dead or missing and affected 56.46 million people, damaged about 170,000 buildings, destroyed 13,000 homes and affected 4.73 million hectares of cropland.
