HealthEbola outbreak and conflict threaten education for children in DRC
Hundreds of thousands of children in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo already face barriers to education from conflict and displacement, and the Ebola outbreak is deepening the disruption. The Norwegian Refugee Council says about 5,700 schools in affected areas lack adequate hygiene facilities, clean water or infection-control protocols. Attendance has plunged in Ituri, while 1,900 children have lost or been separated from one or both parents since the outbreak was declared in May.
