An environmental official said China will speed up its green, low-carbon transition during the 2026–2030 plan period, promote peaks in coal and oil use, and work toward its 2030 climate commitments. Renewables account for 60.7% of installed power capacity, and solar capacity has overtaken coal-fired power. The national carbon market has traded more than 1 billion tonnes and covers about 8.3 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions.
