Geodesist Valery Kachin, serving a 14-year sentence for treason, has stopped eating and drinking at a detention center in Izhevsk, human rights group Department One reported. In a letter, Kachin alleged staff tormented and assaulted him, kept him in a punishment cell, conducted nighttime inspections, and confiscated his belongings.
