TechBooking.com investigated by EU over fake listings and scams
The European Commission is investigating whether Booking.com failed to adequately protect users from fake listings, phishing scams and reservation hijacks, potentially breaching the Digital Services Act. A commission official called its anti-fraud approach “absolutely substandard”; violations could bring a fine of up to 6% of global annual turnover. Booking.com said it is engaging with the commission.
