Independent senator David Pocock said at his first National Press Club speech that his ambitions extend beyond becoming prime minister and that he is not pursuing the post. He proposed a 25% tax on gas exports, a 5% levy on data centres and reforms to expose lobbying and political interests. He also urged politicians to answer the alleged attack on Helen Haines by reinforcing kindness, transparency and accountability.
