TechMeta removes “train” from commercial terms after AI backlash

After criticism, Meta removed the word “train” from its streamlined commercial terms of service, set to take effect October 30. Legal experts had warned that the terms appeared to permit extensive scraping of sites linked from business pages and could let Meta seek AI training data from business users while avoiding licensing fees to news organizations. A spokesperson confirmed users were not notified of the wording change.
